Cisarzim was the cyclops parun of the Gruul Clans, and is commonly referred to as the Lord of Chaos. Wielding his fearsome ax, the Skullhammer, Cisarzim was the figurehead of the forces of chaos in the wars predating the Guildpact. At the height of the conflict, when Azor I proposed the Guildpact, Cisarzim opposed it straightaway, wanting to live wild, free from words of law and bindings of magic. It took a famous clash between he and Boros Legion parun Razia to shake him, and this was only because he was defeated and cowed into begrudging acceptance. He signed so that his people would remain wardens of the wild, champions of the natural world and all of its forms.
Gruul legend claims that Cisarzim would remain bitter about this throughout the course of his life, unable to cope with the shifting political spectrum of Ravnica as the city grew and the wilds were paved over. This has fueled Gruul rage at how their once mighty leader was reduced to helplessness because of the petty actions of big-brained mages.
It is unknown when or how Cisarzim died, but the clans splintered into different gangs shortly after. His supposed grandson, Borborygmos, currently leads the largest Gruul clan that remains, the Burning-Tree.
